  • Description: This article is a case study of the summer young scholar cultivation workshop of National Central Library, Taiwan. The author reports the origin, course structure, implementation, and student learning outcomes of this information literacy short term course especially designed for high school students. In order to measure scales of the achievement and sustainability of teaching objectives,three‐stage questionnaire survey was adopted to collect data of learning outcomes. Research findings are as follows: 1. the scores of eight research competencies were generally not good in the pre‐test; 2. The scores of each research competency significantly improved in the post‐test; 3. the scores of the six months later follow up survey were lower than the post‐test, but higher than the pre‐test, which demonstrated the sustainability of the student learning outcomes. The process of program planning and leaning outcome assessment can serve as reference for other libraries to implement information literacy related training courses in the future.
