The purpose of this research is to examine the apprehension of parents on gene technologies; by understanding the parents’ basic knowledge and view on the subject, we can possibly provide the teachers with better ways in their teaching in the GMO curriculum. This paper analyze the abstract data based on Hung, Chih-Chia(2006)「Research on Cognition of Genetically Modified Organisms and Attitude of Applies to Teaching about Student’s Parents of Grade 5-6 in Elementary School」for the 4th to 6th grade students’parents of the Hua-Shan Elementary School in Kaohsiung. And, it also cross analyze the collected data by using SPSS 10.0 for windows from 2006 fourth grade GMO curriculum students’ parents, totaling 337questionnaires. The research results are as below:1) Parents'' knowledge and attitude toward gene technology: Approximately seven tenths of the parents know about genetic modified food and their main information sources are from television. Also most of them have seem GM products in the conrenient stores, majority of the parents are not familiar with the labeling, product content, and the regulations. The parents believe TV is the most convenient way to learn about GMO and are willing to learn more information regarding gene technologies. There are almost seventy five percent of the parents wishes their kids can accept this aspect of education. They believe gene technology brings future benefits. Howeven, when it is related to GMF diets, they began to have second thoughts.2) Parents'' attitude and view of teachers in teaching GMO: Parents approve junior grade school implement GMO courses, hoping it would be placed in the science classes and be taught by a science teacher. Also, they believe the course materials should be provided by the board of educations with computer softwares and lab practices. The majority of the parents approve of setting up a biotechnology group under the educational board to promote the courses in junior and elementary school. And if the courses require student to prepare their own materials, almost half of the parents are willing to help.3) Backgrounds of parents in relation to views and attitude toward genetic course: Common correlation between the parent''s background to genetic transformation biology courses are “educational background”, "religious belief toward GMO approval", and "have or have not heard of GMO", followed by " occupation", "age", "whether or not knew the child is participating in a GMO class". And the most correlation to teacher implement GMO courses are based on parent''s "whether or not have heard of GMO", "educational background", and "whether have had participated in such a course".
