Bedwetting Dreams Surrealism
Bedwetting, a term that is so familiar and embarrassing, almost occurs to all of us during our development in lifetime. Have you ever woken up with a sudden start from a warm and cozy sleep finding out you were soaked in urine? So shameful and troublesome, it is definitely the last experience you want to recall. Bedwetting, lurking in our dreams under disguise of a toilet to relieve us from urge, a desolate land, or a thrilling nightmare, lets down our guard and then throws us back to the disturbing and humiliating reality. It is observed that dreams, playing a key role triggering involuntary urination, show strong and intricate connections to bedwetting, an experience usually accompanied with unpleasant, anxious, fearful, and sulky feelings. The motif of my painting is to explore and express these intriguing factors. In my creation, bedwetting, an incident followed by negative emotions, is combined with dreams full of infinite possibilities. The two paradoxical states of spiritual energy are balanced by a bed, symbolizing a sense of security and significance. Researching on Die Traumdeutung (Sigismund Schlomo Freud, 1856-1939), this paper intends to investigate to what extent dreams could affect bedwetting behavior while surrealism (Rene Magritte, 1898-1967) is employed as an artistic approach to interpret the incontinence disaster through a positive angle and transform it into a joyful and vigorous artwork. The contents of this paper are divided into three parts: Introduction: The purpose of this paper is to discuss the motive and purpose of this paper, the use of research methods and the scope of study and the structure of each chapter. Chapter 1: The origin of bedwetting is derived from dream, which includes Freud's theory of subconscious and psychoanalysis. Chapter 2: Research on the form and content of creation. Through the preliminary exploration of surrealism and Dadaism, to the inspiration for postmodern art, and the influence of the misappropriati
