The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of the twelve weeks continuing courses of locomotor skills and manipulation skills on motor ability of students of the third and fourth grade in elementary schools. There were 75 third-graders and fourth-graders elementary students as study subject. These students were divided into three groups by stratified random simpling, including the locomotor group, the manipulation group and the control group. Each group had 25 subjects. The students of the locomotor and manipulation groups had to participate in courses of locomotor or manipulation skills every 40 minutes for twice a week. On the other hand, the students of the control group were carried out in reading activities. Before the implementation of courses, all objects needed to accept the six motor abilities before and after the courses, including speed, power, coordination, agility, balance and reaction. The dependent t-test and one-way ANCOVA was used to analyse the interaction of each group’s training before and after. The results of the analyses are as follows:1.After implementation of 12-week courses of locomotor skills or manipulation skills, third-graders and fourth-graders’ motor abilities of speed, power, coordination and agility are markedly rising (p< .05), but there is no significant impact on motor abilities of balance and reaction (p> .05).2.The students of these two experimental groups are no significant difference in motor abilities of speed, power, coordination, agility, balance and response (p> .05).Therefore, this study concludes that after implementation of 12-week courses of locomotor skills or manipulation skills, third-grades and four-grades’ motor abilities of speed, power, coordination and agility are markedly rising. But third-grades and four-grades’ motor abilities to two courses are no significant difference.
